Just watched such a fun movie with Laura on a Monday night. It was so fun to do something I loved at the beginning of the week! I really enjoyed the movie, it was very well done and well I just liked it.
But my favorite scene by far was when the guy offended the girl by trying to assert his manhood and defend his "woman". She asked him to leave and then came over to his place later to apologize. He asked her again, for the umpteenth time what the "status" was of their relationship. He said he needed to know that she wouldn't just wake up and change her mind and she said, "No one can give you that".
The "that" which she referred to in my mind is this sense of "belongingness, valuedness, etc." It's the decision we make in life to live hopeful and trusting rather than waiting the next tradegy or way in which another will intentionally harm us. Instead, we learn to believe we matter and are valuable and we choose to believe that others will seek to care for us well. Now, I am not sure all of this was in the movie, but this is what it made me think about. And while I don't always live here, last night I did and that was a victory. Thank you "500 Days of Summer". I appreciate you.
